When I can combine my two passions together, photography and yoga, it’s the best of two worlds colliding. 

As a Connecticut personal brand photographer for female entrepreneurs I LOVE LOVE LOVE photographing yoga teachers and yoga studios. 

If you own a yoga studio or are a teacher read on because I’m gonna break down what a personal branding session for a yogi looks like. 

As a Connecticut yoga photographer I can tell you that it’s not just showing up and asking you to do a variety of poses to photograph (although you will be showing off your amazing poses!).

It’s also about all things that go into running a yoga studio.

We break it down by sections: the studio, your props, behind the scenes, we ca even set up a mock-class with models. 

Into mediation, crystals or reiki? Great let’s photograph that too. 

Below is a full branding session for Hands to Heart Yoga and Wellness located in Wolcott CT. It was four hours of photographing all sides of Jodi’s new yoga studio. 

And when all was said and done she had a variety of photographs to use to:

• Build out her website
• Use for her social media accounts
• Add photos for her blog posts
• Design her printed marketing materials

Pretty awesome right? She’s able to show up for her clients and potential clients in a variety of ways to build out her business. 

So let’s get started here.

Hero Shots

It’s important to get the hero shot of you. That photo that you can use on your homepage so your dream clients can see who you are. Usually that means images that you are smiling and looking at camera.

Lifestyle Shots

Photos of you doing that thing that you do! In this case it was important to get images of yoga poses, meditation poses, Jodi also practices Reiki so we got some shots of her doing that as well. 

Studio Images

It was important to get images of what the studio looks like so people can envision themselves in the space. Jodi provides all the props one would need to practice so we made sure to get shots of that too.

Product Shots

Jodi makes homemade soaps, scrubs, and sage sticks and sells them at the studio so we made sure to photograph that side of her business too. 

Instructor Images

Jodi has other instructors that teach classes at her studio so to market those classes (power yoga and vinyasa flow) we took a variety of images of the other instructors to help her market those classes.

 

Mock Class Photos

For this branding session Jodi was able to call on a few friends to use as models for a mock yoga class. We were able to get a variety of images from just a few different set-ups. These images are amazing to help people envision what a class will actually look like. 

Workshop Images

If you are going to offer special workshops it’s helpful to have photographs that help you market those workshops. In this case Jodi knew she’d be doing restorative yoga with healing touch and essential oils, sound healings and working with crystals. Now she has these images available to her when she’s ready to offer these workshops making it so much easier to promote. 

Behind the Scenes

People love a good behind the scenes shot! They also make great photos for social media to help connect with your audience. 

This was an awesome branding session and now Jodi has more than 100 images to pull from whenever she needs one!

She doesn’t have to worry about taking low quality photos with her cell phone.

She doesn’t have to take selfies or try to figure out how to set up a photo every time she wants to post to Instagram. 

Photography isn’t her zone of genius…Yoga is! 

As business owners we try to “do all the things” (I fall victim to this too sometimes) but it’s important to focus on what you are amazing at and invest in the things that you aren’t, but that will also help you up-level your business and bring in your dream clients!
