This fall maternity photo session was just so much fun with this family of three as they excitedly awaited the arrival of their newest addition, a baby boy!
This fall maternity photo session was relaxed and focused on the glowing mama and their daughter’s personality. I always find that maternity sessions with older siblings adds a special touch to the session. Not only do I document the “baby bump” but the older children as well and the stage of life they are currently in.
I find it’s important to include older children to give mom and dad some special memories of their family as it once was and before the dynamic of the family changes with the impending joyous arrival of a new baby.
Toddlers in general have very little interest in photos of themselves (unless they get to look at the back of the camera at the photos, thanks cell phone cameras!) so it’s important to keep them engaged.
This little miss loved “swinging” with her parents, being lifted up high like a bird, hugging mama, kissing belly and of course, running around.
The great thing about maternity sessions like this is that I capture what I can of the older sibling(s) and then focus on mom and then mom and dad together (with older children in eye sight of course!).
It’s really a juggling game and keeping the session fluid and moving is key to a successful maternity photo session.
I know these photos look like they could have been taken in the summer, they were actually taken in the last week of October! I couldn’t believe how many flowers were still in bloom. So on top of the leaves changing for fall and flowers still in bloom, it was a really beautiful backdrop for this fall maternity photo session.
