When I got the call to photograph this newborn session, I was so excited because I loved our first newborn session together three years earlier with big sister. I remember that newborn session because of the beautiful nursery accent wall (again, crushing the accent wall for baby number 2) and their adorable fur baby, Clover, who LOVED being in the photos. Once again, she loved being in these photos as well.
As a Cromwell, CT newborn photographer I hadn’t seen big sister since our newborn session in 2021 so to see her as a toddler was so fun. She was so cooperative and loved on her baby sister…and her pup! Making sure I got big sister in the action was very much a part of this newborn photo session. It’s important to document this stage of life, not just the new baby (although they are the star of the show) but older siblings and fur babies as well.
It’s a crazy, chaotic, fun, exhausting, loving and joyous time of life. It’s a season of “going with the flow”, letting go over perfection and letting kids be kids. When big sister wanted to cover her baby sister with stuffies, all me and mom could do was laugh, because isn’t that just kids being kids?
New baby girl was just the best little model too. With barely any fussing we were able to get lots of variety for her in-home newborn session in a short amount of time. With some sleepy shots and then some awake shots (although not too many!) we were able to capture her personality a bit too.
