Ahhh summer on the beach, is there anything better? I vote no. It’s my happy place. So a family beach photo session makes my heart full.
This particular family has been with me for years starting with newborn photos for their oldest daughter so this family photo session was extra special for me because, well, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love watching my families grow!
As a Southington, CT Family Photographer I have lots of ideas for beautiful spots in CT to take family photos and this beach in Milford is one of my favorite spots, offering sand, water, tall grass, and boardwalks, it has it all! And a beautiful summer evening was icing on the cake!
We started off this family beach photo session getting the more “formal, everyone look at the camera” shots out of the way first. The girls were still a bit shy at this point but they warmed up quickly as soon as we started moving. And boy did we move!
With family photo sessions I find it important to really capture children’s personalities you have to “let them loose”. So what do we do? We play! We run, jump, ask dad to give piggy back rides and for these girls in particular we played some Taylor Swift songs and watched them dance!!
By letting children just have fun when you take their photos it also establishes trust between photographer and child. The pressure to perform by just staring and smiling at the camera goes away and the real smiles shine through.
