There is nothing quite like a beautiful evening with flowers in bloom for summer maternity photos.
This was a very special maternity session for me as this amazing family happens to be some of my best friends. Having been college roommates with this stunning mama <3 I was so excited to capture this exciting time in life as they awaited the arrival of their second little girl.
I love when older siblings are involved in a maternity session because it adds another dimension of love and fun. It’s not just about “the bump” or the mama-to-be, it’s how the new big sister or brother is also excited. This little miss was so very sweet with mama, kissing her belly and talking about the baby. She also just wanted to run around and explore so not every shot was about her, and that’s ok too! We got some fun shots of dad tossing her in the air and of her running and dancing around. Gotta get that energy out somehow!
Involving older children in a maternity photo session also provides and opportunity for mom and dad to get some memories captured of their first, second, etc. born before the family dynamic changes and these can be really special for parents. It’s a chance to capture the love and fun of smaller children and their interactions with mom and dad.
Summer maternity photos are some of my favorite to photograph mainly because the backdrops are always so pretty. The environment is always alive with flowers, plants, trees. There is color everywhere. And the golden sunlight is always a crowd pleaser.
As a Connecticut maternity and family photographer there are so many beautiful locations to photograph at. From summer gardens and fields to the coastline there is something for everyone.
