This journey to parenthood looks different for everyone. Sometimes that road is easy and happy. Sometimes the road takes a detour into heartache.
In 2018 I watched my dear friends Lisa and Sean experience two heartaches. The first, a terminal diagnosis of their beloved fur baby, Able. A dog who was family to them. A dog they put lots of love and money behind to try to save.
Then upon news of their first baby on the way, a rare diagnosis resulted in a miscarriage. Soon after that Able lost his battle too.
None of this seemed fair. All of this…well, sucked.
But the tide turned again for them, this time in a positive, joyous way. Another baby was on the way.
And after a healthy pregnancy they welcomed their rainbow baby, Leah, just after the new year.
The name Leah holds extra special meaning to them as Able’s mother’s name was Leah. A way to honor and remember their fur baby.
So to you Lisa and Sean, you deserve this special, happy, exhausting, crazy, love-filled time in life now. The storm has passed and the sun is out. Enjoy this sweet baby of yours. xoxo
And to anyone reading this that has or is experiencing something similar, you are not alone. We are rooting for you too, to heal and to move on to happier times.
