So the thing about babies is they come when they want. Some take their sweet old time and need to be induced into the world and some are ready to make their entrance ahead of schedule. And that’s just what little Miss Ellie did—she arrived a couple weeks early. However, she proved to be a strong little girl and after a slightly extended stay in the hospital was ready to go home with her mom and dad.
I’m always excited for a newborn session, but I was really looking forward to this in-home session after having done Kim and Chris’s maternity session (which you can check out here). I remember seeing the excitement on their faces as we talked about the pending arrival of their Ellie. As we transitioned to the newborn session that excitement (despite the inevitable new parent exhaustion) was still there. But even more than excitement was this almost tangible feeling of love and awe of their precious new baby girl.
Ellie was a perfect model and totally rocked her session. I very quickly learned that a tight swaddle kept her happiest, so despite my best effort to show her little hands she would have none of it. I was ok with that because she made up for it by sharing the sweetest smiles with me so long as I was fast enough to capture them. And my goodness, she has the cutest dimple when she smiles!
At first look she is the spitting image of her mama, but as I was editing her session I saw her daddy’s eyes. She’s the perfect combination of both of them and a blessed little girl to have Kim and Chris as her parents. Kim and Chris, congrats on beautiful daughter!
